: Solo 16 Building Log

16 Oct 2009 - I've offered to build the prototype Solo 16 by Chris Ostlind of Lunada Design. Chris is will be sending me the first cut of the materials list and plans for the akas in a couple of days. In the mean time here's the spes and a few of renderings of the Solo 16 from the Lunada Design website and some comments from the designer :
"The Solo 16 is a purpose-built trimaran for fast sailing. You will
typically, sit within the main hull, but you also have the option of sitting on the
gunnel level hiking benches, or the side tramps that provide a smooth flat surface out to
the amas. If the wind is really ripping, you can slide all the way out to the ama and let
the boat find its own potential"

20 Nov 2009 - Designer Chris Ostlind has sent the sheets with offsets for the main hull panel, and the demensions for the building suppport pictured above. Hopefully this weekend I'll be able to start marking and cuttng the OCB for the building support. I may also start to document a general project plan so I can keep on track. I also have promised to keep a log of expenses as I go through, that's always a question people have - what will it cost to build.
24 Nov 2009 - Here's some additional
layouts for the 6mm amas bulkheads and the six sheets of 4mm ply with nesting for the amas
panels.

This next diagrams, (that I have take the liberty to "colorize" shows the vaka bottom panel (light green) in the building support and in the next image the sides are added.
